Pain Management

Pain management requires a holistic approach, as any one procedure is typically not enough to eliminate all of your pain.  At Par Pain Management we monitor your diet, exercise, and sleep habits.  We offer a unique Lifestyle Physical Pain Management program in addition to our Pain Management therapy.

The basic philosophy of pain management is to allow each pain management technique to build on one another so that you experience an accumulation of effects to help reduce your pain and live a more enjoyable life.

Our immediate and typical response to pain is more appropriate for acute pain than chronic pain.   One side effect of continuing this practice is an increase in fatigue.

The best pain management strategy is one that follows a “least-to-most” application process.  You will learn how to instinctively react to your pain that is more appropriate for chronic pain.   Each technique you apply will become progressively stronger.  Thus, using a least-to-most strategy means you only apply what’s needed to reduce your pain, in an attempt to minimize becoming insensitive to your pain management strategies.  Also, this strategy means that when you have to apply stronger measures, such as medications you are taking only what you need to reduce the pain to a level where other pain management strategies can now be effective. That also means you are not over medicating because you’re trying to stop where you think the pain is going.

Seeing a pain psychologist is your way of increasing your chances of success.  There are over 20 pain management techniques you can learn.  We incorporate biofeedback and neurofeedback to help with the learning process.
