Not just any PT

Before you engage in physical therapy make sure they know how to treat chronic pain.  Too often, physical therapist approach a problem as if once the muscle or muscles are strong, you're better.  If you find your physical therapist is just moving you from equipment to equipment ask yourself, "if my condition is chronic how am I going to continue this type of exercise for the rest of my life?"


Physical Therapy

Your program will consist of therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and muscle energy techniques tailored to your physical therapy goals.  We can also enhance the efficacy of stimulator of TENS units by providing specialized education in the placement of diodes and the creation of your own diagnostic chart.  We encourage you to teach us about your psychological experience of recovery so that we can continue to develop better treatment together.  Many of your PT sessions will be followed by massage therapy which is provided not only to support physical relaxation but as a recompense for progress.  Our flexible hours are designed around your schedule, allowing you to get the most out of your next visit to PAR Pain Management.


PT

Physical Therapy treats chronic pain differently than acute pain.There is no expected recovery period for Chronic Pain.Chronic Pain will not dissipate by increasing the number of reps.Chronic Pain will not dissipate by extending the course of treatment.Chronic Pain may not dissipate through increasing flexibility.Chronic Pain may not dissipate with increased muscle tone.
Chronic Pain cannot be treated by a machine.Chronic Pain occurs every day in a client’s life, throughout multiple activities.Chronic Pain requires the client to modify his or her lifestyle.Physical Therapy is most effective when those principles are used every day.
Physical Therapy is most effective when it models smarter mechanical adaptation in every day activity.
Physical Therapists are lifestyle consultants. Physical Therapists help the client determine what their most meaningful daily tasks will be.
Physical Therapists use their expert knowledge of the body to determine if any physical modifications may be necessary to complete the tasks.
Physical Therapists create a program of exercise, strength-training, and manual therapy that the client can begin in the office, but ultimately replicate on a daily basis at home.
The Physical Therapist’s goal is to teach the client to continue to use this program in order to increase his or her control over the effects of chronic pain.
